The TAIKOPROJECT is an ensemble of premiere drummers dedicated to promoting the Japanese art of taiko and preserving taiko as a dynamic element

of Japanese American culture. The Japanese word "taiko" means " drum". The taiko has been in Japanese life and culture for centuries.

While informing the audience of the history of taiko, this theatrical and high energy group incorporates innovative concepts including a touch of hip-hop choreography and occasionally

gives a modern touch to traditional rhythms.

"With an artful blending of music, theater, choreography, costumes and set design, TAIKOPROJECT immersed the audience in a special world

where traditions of the past inspire art of the present."

--Mitch Glickman, Director of Music Programs, Los Angeles County Museum of Art
